I can see Ocean Beach from my house. Golf balls hit my house daily from the course across the street. Surfers, picnickers, runners, bicyclists, people walking their dogs, fly casters, archery buffs, model boat racers, rowers, sailors, hang gliders, bird walkers: I am surrounded by people who take their pleasures seriously.
I suppose I do too. I am a people-watcher and a painter. I paint for fun and for the love of the world and the love of color. The paintings in the coming show at Sue Greenwood Gallery* are mostly from beach visits, although for this painting I did walk out on a decaying drawbridge trestle in the pre-dawn to photograph the rowers from above.
*The Sue Greenwood Fine Art show starts late July and runs into September.
